The State of Florida DBPR has been backed up for about 2 years now. We are very open and honest about that upfront before we take on clients. However, when clients decide to bid work without a license or omit information from us, like criminal history, it becomes an enormous problem because that just delays the DBPR from processing applications even longer. The applicant rightfully wants their application processed, but we have no control over the State of Florida DBPR. They have had several outages and are backed up from the pandemic, so there is no guarantee when they will finish an application.
Because of the tremendous amount of phone calls from people who have started jobs before they license, or bidding work before they have a license, then finding themselves in a bad situation, we are getting hammered with calls to call the State to try and get them to move faster, even though we are upfront and are telling clients and potential clients that we cannot do that.
If we take on your application, please understand that we cannot guarantee when the DBPR will get to your application. It doesn’t matter if you have to do a job or any other circumstance, until the DBPR gets caught up and their systems fixed, we are all in the same boat.
